I've been playing a few games of Fischerandom on live sites lately. For those of you who haven't tried it, openings are a situation unlike anything you will ever encounter in classical chess. Even middelgame positions can be odd. I have searched the web for sites but the only sites that deal with it give little more than an explanation of the rules. There is a book out called "Shall We Play Fischerandom Chess", but the blurb suggests it is more about the history of the game. Has anyone come across any material, either in book form or on the web, that offers any help dealing with the peculiarities of this form of chess?
Originally posted by sonhouseI play either at FICS (http://www.freechess.org) or as a guest at ICC (http://www.chessclub.com). Both are true chess servers so you can either download an interface program from the main site or use WinBoard if you have it. The help files at either site will show you how to set for Fischerandom. FICS is my mail live play site. Registration is free so you might as well get an account while you're there. ICC is pretty expensive, but you can download the software and play as a guest for free. If you only want to play FR and don't care if your games are rated that might be better as there are more players on the site. It sometimes takes a while to find someone who wants to play Fischerandom with you.
what are the sites you can play FR on? I would like to try a game or 6.
