if you were a ex- investment banker with too much money in your mattress, would you have bid for fischer's chess collection* ?

*read the current article in www.chessvibes.com.

if i had the cash, i would have valued the collection much higher than $50k

I wouldn't give you 2 cents for that stuff. Fischer was a self centered jerk!😏

I wish I had a spare $100 grand to bid on the stuff. Of course, I'd only bid $100 bucks for the lot, but boy, I sure wish I had the spare 100 grand. 😵

Only in my dreams did I bid on them, my friend. My idea of a big score is spending 20 bucks on ebay, haha.

Back to the winning bidder, I'm curious to know what's on the floppies...not blank, I hope! Kudos to him. I suspect at least part of the value he placed on the items was for historical reasons. (Some of the info leading up to the '72 match, etc.)

It looks as though we'll be seeing a lot of Fischer's private belongings out in the open now, not just his chess material. Someone recently posted some private photo collections of his on youtube. One of them is from 1973 which have never been seen.

I'm sure Fischer himself would have gone ballistic if he knew this was going to happen.

Fischer would have gone "ballistic" if someone sneezed at the wrong time!😏
