In real-time games, does anyone else feel guilty about winning on time? Especially in a really interesting position. Like, in a lost position, I don't feel any guilt, because that's part of the balance of the game -- they couldn't beat me in the time availiable. In a won position, I don't feel any guilt because I was gonna get 'em anyway. But in an interesting position, with perhaps a slight advantage for me... I feel sorta like I should be able to beat them from here, timing 'em out is a cop out.
Just curious if I'm alone in this feeling.
The game that excited this feeling (quite a flashy one, check it out! lotsa fireworks):
I was black. Started out trying to get a development advantage by luring his queen out with a bishop-knight trade and chasing it back again, he forced an Exchange out of me, giving me enough time to loose a really nasty attack on his king. In the final position, I was about to force (on pain of impending checkmate) him to trade his queen for my rook, at which point I would have been two pawns up, queen for 2 rooks, with opposite colored bishops. Probably had the advantage just because of the pawns, and his king was in a nasty exposed cage, but it would have been a tense endgame. Then his flag fell, and I timed him out.

Oh, the guilt! :-)
If you play the game you have to accept the rules as they are. You also have to accept the consequences. That is part of growing up, for you and your opponent.
However, always be understanding towards your opponent if he looses and generous in the case he wins.
No need for guilt feelings on your part.
By the way, if everything is all right we keep on growing until we die ..... 🙂
