Hi, I'm pretty much beginner at chess and would like to know if you know any online link where to get some free systems to analyze my own chess games (unrated games to analyze only!!) I'm not after rating but want to learn to see different good move possibilities.. Thank you very much.
But if you really want a chess engine try chessbase light, it comes with fritz4
www.chessbase.com
Iv done the start of one for you, up to the point where it was lost. A computer might offer you move variations but it wont be able to provide much reason why it picked those moves

1.g3 e5 2.e3?
c4 would be better transposing into the english opening. e3 allows black to set up a big center
2...d5 3.Nf3?
Bg2, Nf3 lets the knight get kicked around the board.
3...Bg4 4.Be2?
Bg2, transfering the bishop to the h1-a8 diagonal which gives the bishop more control and protential central control, also covering the weak squares of h3/f3 around your king
4...Nc6 5.Bb5? e4 6.Be2 Bxf3 7.Bxf3 exf3 8.Qxf3 Nf6 9.Nc3?
d4, stopping Ne5 and taking some control of the center
9...Ne5 10.Qf4?
Qe2, best to take the queen out of the fray yet leaving it covering the light square weakness with intent to play d4, bd2 and 0-0-0
10...Bd6 11.Nb5
Qa5+ getting the queen out of the bishop line with tempo
11...Nd3+ 12.cxd3 Bxf4 13.gxf4 c6 14.Nd4 Ng4 15.Rg1 Qh4 16.Rg2 c5 17.Nf5 Qh3 18.Nxg7+ Kf8 19.Rg3 Qh4 20.h3 Rg8 21.Nf5 Qf6 22.hxg4 h5 23.e4 Rxg4 24.Rh3 Rg1+ 25.Ke2 dxe4 26.dxe4 Re8 27.d3 c4 28.dxc4 Rxe4+ 29.Ne3 Qxf4 30.Kd3 Qe5 31.Nc2 Rd1+ 32.Bd2 Rxa1 33.Nxa1 Qd4+ 34.Kc2 Qxc4+ 35.Rc3 Qe2 36.Rc8+ Kg7 37.Rc7 h4 38.Rxb7 h3 39.Rb3 Rc4+ 40.Rc3 h2 41.Kb3 h1Q 0-1
I think some of his annotations are incorrect. This can be super-interesting though, because you see different thought processes.
1. g3
An ok move! I play it myself.
e5 2. e3?
Bad....d3, Bg2, c4, and Nf3 are all perfectly acceptable Letting black occupy the center is fine. You can counterattack it. This may end up being a reversed KID, or Alekhine's Defense.
d5 3.Nf3
This move isn't bad because it gets your knight kicked around. It's bad because Bg4 is good for Black now.
Bg4 4. Be2
This is actually much much better than Bg2. 4. Bg2? e4! And white's toast.
Nc6 5. Bb5?
Of course this is bad. Playing g3, looking to put the Bishop on g2, then being forced to put it on e2, and then moving it again. It's not at all consistent.
e4!
Of course. Punishing you for moving it again.
6. Be2 Bxf3 7. Bxf3 exf3 8. Qxf3 Nf6 9. Nc3
This doesn't seem as bad to me as he makes it out to be. Ne5 doesn't do all that much for black. You can now think about playing Qe2, b3, Bb2, and 0-0-0. I like b2 as the bishops square alot better than Bd2, where he wanted to chain it in with your own pawns. It's actually really good on the long diagonal here, and I think the queenside weakness are minimal here.
..Ne5 10. Qf4
Not very good. Qe2 seems better. Blacks next move makes your queen look pretty silly there.
..Bd6!
Looking for ..Nd3+!!
Nb5? Nd3+!! and it's over.

lol true, it was done quickly and wrong :-)
I'll stand by my 3.Nf3 ? e4 4.Nd4 (4. Nh4 Nf6, with intent to play Bg4 c5 Ne2 5 Bg4 whites position is awful
4...Nc6 5.Bb5? e4 6.Be2 Bxf3 7.Bxf3 exf3 8.Qxf3 Nf6 9.Nc3?
Going to stand by d4 too :-) since black can play d4 himself then the mistake of exd4 is punished quite badly by Nxd4 and if white gives the chance Qe7+ The best white could do is maybe play Qe3+ where the queens go. Nc6 just leaves black with to many good moves from blacks point of view, Bb4 is another one trading off more material and racing to the end game.
I really think from that point white should be going 0-0-0 and creating a pawn storm on the kingside. If black is so kind as to put his king on g8 then rooks on g1 and h1 with the pawns being pushed would scare the willys out of me. Whatever white does in this game it would have to be drastic to pull back, quiet game plans just wont do it :-)
Originally posted by GrayeyesofsorrowYou only analyzed exd4. What if he doesn't take it? ..d4 then Ne4 doesn't lose at all. White is still down the piece, but letting black push d4 does nothing. You also said that 0-0-0 and pushing the pawns is whites plan. Doesn't a Bishop on b2 help this plan alot more? That bishop hits the g7 square! I agree on the 0-0-0 part but a Bishop on d2 sucks. You might as well put a pawn there is it so bad!

What you guys are doing on this thread, that is analysing with understandable comments in natural language...Now if they could get a chess computer to do THAT, I would buy it in a heartbeat!
In fact, if anyone ever comes up with the technology to do this, well, I'm predicting that person could be wealthy beyond their wildest dreams.
Matsi, I'm back again, and have good news for you. I found a site Through a tip from someone else on this forum, and it is called www.thinkquest.org. They have a BUNCH of stuff about chess, and offer a free analysis forum where you can submit your games for analysis.
Thought this might be helpful to you!
