I just finished this game as black vs. AlphaAlekhine as part of the 1-0 non subscribers tournament that's going on right now.
I do have it posted in the tournament thread, but I'd figure I'd post it here for analysis. It's a highly tactical game, very complicated. If you see a better move, please post it, I'm very curious.
Enjoy.

Originally posted by ih8senswell for starters, one major difference would be if you played 2.c4 (Reti opening)... but it might not be better, it is a hard system to play.

Originally posted by ChessJesterI thought that was a transposition into the English. I frequently play Nf3, g3, Bg2, 0-0, c4. This is the Reti? I've heard people tell me this, but I always thought it was the English. I know they are very similar.

No expert on openings, but you both made use of some good tactics in the middle/endgame. I liked whites doubled a-file rooks and would have tried to force the a-file open earlier. Good use of the passed pawn by black - good use of the bishops, although i think if you both reanalyse you will find that allowing BxRa8 (black capturing white) was a blunder. I assume this was done as a temprorary sacrifice intending the passed pawn to force the regain of material but white could defend against this better than the game moves and keep material advantage (can't remember how I worked it out now but I did so have a look).
I feel most of your respective decisions were correct strategically (at our respective level).
And yes I have some time on my hands....................🙂
I agree with you policestate. The fact is, in my mind, the tempo I gained was worth the 1 pawn defecit I would have incurred had the game been played out perfectly (it's a long line but I think that's the result). I also had a huge mate threat that was difficult to defend and I think AlphaAlekhine will probably confirm my assumption that he spent a lot of time watching out for mate traps.
Edit - Someone should run it through fritz.. I'd like to think that sac was worthwhile.
Originally posted by ih8sensI do agree. And, I do think that Bxf7+ would have been much better than Bxa8, though the passed pawn was hard to deal with either way.

When I moved e5, allowing the knight capture, I hadn't figured in Bd4+ after White forked the rooks. So, that had me stressed as well.
