Someone asked me about where to get a free .pgn viewer so I thought I'd share this with anyone else who might want to know.

Arena - Good chess graphical interface

Rybka - Great chess engine... works with Arena

SCID - Free chess database application

BabasChess - this is an interface for FICS but it also works with Rybka and you can open pgns with it... you can even examine games on FICS with other people.

oops... no urls in the public forum... oh well cut paste away

Some things for linux guys. 🙂

http://eboard.sourceforge.net/ Eboard lets you view pgn files and connect to FICS. Has a scratch board that comes in handy.

http://chessdb.sourceforge.net/ Code forked from scid. Now has bug fixes and possible new features in the future. (Say that 3 times real fast.) You can annotate games with this one.

Also...

Arena works perfectly in wine with the Rybka, Crafty engines

Plus there is the Jose Chess interface, named after Capablanca, that might be the best linux chess interface available. http://jose-chess.sourceforge.net/index.html

ChessDB - a free Chess database for Mac OS X, Windows, Linux, and UNIX - like ChessBase, but better.
