I wish all Americans a happy Thanksgiving today. I hope everyone can enjoy a tasty meal with mash potatoes and gravy and turkey and dressing and perhaps a pumpkin or pecan pie.

P.S. How could I forget the corn? 😏

    Thanks Military Man.

We don't celebrate that particular festival over here.

In Britain they call it Harvest festival.

I have often wondered why we don't celebrate it here, given the fact that
Ireland is a food island. We are world renowned for our agriculture and our meat
and dairy product are famous all over the world.

I was very surprised to learn recently that agriculture in Britain only represents less than 5% of their economy.

Is it the same thing as Harvest? I thought it had something to do with the Pilgrim settlers chowing down with the Native Americans in the early days? yknow - before relations between the settlers and the natives became.... difficult.

In the United States, the modern Thanksgiving holiday tradition is commonly, but not universally, traced to a poorly documented 1621 celebration at Plymouth in present-day Massachusetts. The 1621 Plymouth feast and thanksgiving was prompted by a good harvest.

P.S. The food stores are closed today on Thanksgiving Day, so if you forgot to buy something you intend to prepare for the thanksgiving dinner, you will have to go to a restaurant to get it. Most fast food restaurants are closed.
