Openings should only take about 25% of your total study time..according to Lev Alburt anyways
If you really want a good balanced training to improve quickly, then 25% can even be too much (unless you're over 2200 elo)
But let's face it, many players study for fun more than for real fast improvement, and i don't think there's anything wrong in that, as long as they don't fool themselves ! So 90% on openings or on any field you like is ok for them (and i include myself in this group!)
