TACTICS
Try a website like: http://chess.emrald.net/ to practice tactics. Or just search for chess tactics and see what you can find out.
ENDINGS
For endings get to know the basic checkmates and study some king and pawn endings and some rook endings to start with. Learn about "the opposition"
OPENINGS
Have a look at several of the well known openings such as; ruy lopez and giocco piano for white and Kings Indian and Nimzo Indian for black - there are many to chose from but most important is to try and understand the principles behind the first 5 or 6 moves in each of these opening. In time you will chose your favourites for deeper study.
STRATEGY
Play through some annotated grandmaster games.
Theres a lot to do - it takes time - good luck.
