How do you 'find' a new game?

Another basic question guys; I'm almost embarrassed to ask it.

How do you all 'find' a new game?

That is, do you 'create' an Open Invite' to initiate a game, or do you respond to an existing open invite or do you use the 'Find Player'?

It seems that existing 'open invites' don't give me lot to choose from concerning number of players, ratings, & timeouts.
I am hesitant to use 'Find Player' since that amounts to a challenge and it seems the names appear based on the time of the players last move. I have no idea if he's really interested in an additional game.

Anyway, just curious how you guys navigate this?

join a clan and your leader will match u up against opponents with a similar rating or join one of the many open tournaments

Being a non-subscriber, I'd recomend you just post open invites or accept them yourself... Tourneys are a benefit of subscription.
