here's a thought: be mature
instead of advocating your opening of choice, why not actually offer constructive criticism of his play?
I'll look at it now.

Edit(1.): 2. f4 is now known to be unsound against best play. Edit(2.) will be coming shortly

Edit(2.)

3. ... a5?!
3. ... a6!
not black's only option, but definately his most popular/strongest (IMO) after 3. ... a5, black will have a very large amount of difficulty in dealing with the b5 bishop, which has just become very strong.

5. ... exd4?!
maybe the (!) shouldn't be added, but I thought I'd only call this dubious, since it doesn't appear to lose on the spot or otherwise be unsound. It does however, allow white a powerful centralised knight. 5. ... Bg4 is much better, creating a very necessary pin.

7. 0-0! I like this move a lot, a perfectly timed castle. seems natural, and probably isn't anything special, but I like this move a lot. maybe I'm wrong, though. excellent developing move, as the rook gets to come to it's happy place on e1 (as we see in move 11)

12. Bxf6 may be white's only mistake (at this point I'm assuming that you're white). I'd personally play Bh4, daring black to play the super weak g5? move. On principle, trading a bishop for a knight this late in an open game is not that strong. Black had opportunity later (I won't go over all of his mistakes, Rxe5 was a nice tactical spotting on white's behalf.) to save his position and go to an endgame, where on an open board, his bishop would become much more valuable than your knight.

Good game. I'm sure another, stronger player will be able to provide you with a better analysis (some guys have engines, and can check the game on them for you. Korch's tips are always useful, so if I were you, I'd pray for him to come on and analyze for you.) But that's what I have to offer.
