Oops, good point. I just wanted you guys to guess the awesome game winning move I found, but I suppose it's possible I missed something and I don't want help. So hold off on posting in this thread until I say the game is over.

Ok the game ended. I can't believe the guy played it to checkmate. Anyways, was there anything black could have done at this point to avoid losing considering he's up two pawns?

I'd say the winning move is at least dubious (if you refer to 48. Ne8), as your opponent blundered the rook right after. What would you have done on 49. ... Bd3?

I can't see a winning move 48. What move did you have in mind?

It was Ne8. I think the fact that it forces all his pieces to be frozen in order to prevent a mate basically seals the win. As for what I would do if 49...Bd4, I would still do 50. Nf6. The king can't move, the bishop is basically stuck on that square to protect both the pawn and the mate, so queening is pretty straight forward.

Unless you have a good response for 50. Nf6?

OK, now I see the threat of 48.Ne8 with the Nf6 followup. Black does have an escape, but he'd have to play precisely for several moves, and chances are very good that he wouldn't find it. In that case, I agree that you pretty much have a win.

Black to stay in the game (he might lose a pawn, but better than mate):
48.Ne8 Rh4+! 49.Kc5 (if 49.Ke3, then 49...Re4+, and if 49.Kc3, then 49...Rh3+) Bd3 50.Nf6 Bg6 and it's still a fight.
