How do you end a game when the other player isn't responding and it's nearly over, first time playing this game

You have to wait till his time runs out, timeout + timebank. It tells you at the bottom right when you open up the game.

Once that runs out there will be a skull which you can click and claim the win.

thanks, i think the time limit is set to 3 days or something crazy, how can i change it and is it too late to do so in the middle of a game

"Crazy"? This is a correspondence chess site, where most games have a three or seven day timeout. And, no, you can't change the timeout once the game has started.
