I believe it has something to do with the incomplete game history, thus creating a faulty or corrupted game history.

Yeah, they had to do some server work recently that corrupted some game histories. I'm sure this is one of them.

Ha ha, that looks funny! But Black's king wasn't taken, it took itself off the board. 😉

I am surprised it's possible to play through the game at all. I thought that wasn't possible in the games with a corrupted move history.
