My rating is around 1230.
Are there other benefits besides being able to take part in tourneys?

Personally, it appears that a membership to the Internet Chess Club is much more valuable, since they give access to hundreds of chess videos and lectures, have a library of grandmaster games, and of course, allowing the user to play online. I considered both ICC and redhotpawn, and in the end, chose the former.
Originally posted by gritads/banners will disappear, too... they can be annoying. Also, having unlimited games (already mentioned) could come in handy - if you're a non-sub and already playing 6 games, you cannot accept (or offer) challenges from your friends (you've told about RHP and how cool it is) until you finish one of the games...
