2. ... a6 why? all you're doing is preventing a move that may happen in the future, while neglecting development.
3. Qf3 - a patzer's move. Develop and attack by 3. ... Nf3 (Qf3). White has wasted a move on doing nothing. There's options for Black but most common is to continue to develop and then castle.

I would say it is a common mistake. But I know that you have learned from it. That was pulled on me one time in yahoo chess, and I felt that my shoe size was bigger than my IQ...but, be honest, you watch for that now, do you not?
