im not very good and so i want to get better (about 1200 hoping to be 1300 bye this time next year) i know looking over your games could be the best way...can anone look over a few of my loseing games and tell me what i did wrong?? if so please e-mail me at pets13us@ahoo.com
I looked at your game against smooth22. you moved your queen out on move 2 and advanced your g pawn up the board on move 3. You need to learn the basic principals of how to develop your pieces and refrain from creating targets and weaknesses. I would suggest you get "Logical Chess Move by Move" by Chernev and play thru the games. You will advance 100 times faster doing this than by playing and analyzing your own games....
In "Logical Chess Move by Move" the author explains the reasons for every move played. This is the quickest way to learn.
Hope this helps, Pat Avery (nest)
ok first off i know the basics and 2nd i didnt move my queen out the 2nd move, he did, i moved it out on the 4th because i wanted to trade pieces early and get rid of our queens early because i dont play well with her until move 20 (about) and i knew he already had it out so i wanted to end that threat....sorry to tell you but i do know what im doing sometimes
Well I have learned my lesson....never offer help to someone even if they ask for it!!
Regardless of all that has been said I still think that anyone ranked lower than USCF expert can benefit greatly from "Logical Chess Move by Move". That's my advise....do with it what you will.
Thanks, Pat (nest)
I was reading the threads someone said dont move your queen early,
I would becuase people dont know how to stop the bitch without killing
it, because they are always greedy. And if you do take your queen out
early and they dont threaten it, you should pay close attention to what they are threatening(king). If they dont threaten it and arnt threatening anything else kill everything they got.One last thing dont put your queen in enclosed areas you will likely be trapped and captured :'(
Surely, if you dont mind a guy who hasnt played for a while. I have much experience though and have beaten many masters. You can send me the links to your games at b_tutt@earthlink.net
I moved my queen out early as black vs D2 opening (albeit a few moves later) because I sought to snag white's rook. I made the mistake of not moving the queen out of the way after collecting the rook, and got her nicely boxed in, but at a stalemate. However, I counted the value of the pieces boxing me in, and figured keeping two bishops, a knight and two pawns (9 vs 11) occupied was a good tradeoff. Opponent wasn't going to let my queen go, but sacrificed the use of a lot of valuable pieces in order to keep me there.
Meanwhile, back on the King side, I still had two functional bishops.
Don't play like me. I'll just ruin your book learnn'
