Why don't you stop the nationalistic drum beating!?! American's (and I'm one of them) have a bad enough reputation for arrogence as it is, without you adding to it! I work hard to treat others with respect regardless of the country they live in...I'd suggest you do the same!!!
😠

Oooooooooooookay...

If you're serious, then you completely missed the point of my post. Do you really think I seriously meant that my subscribing was a blow to Canada?

I'd suggest that you use a little of that hard work in treating others with respect, and devote it to not being rude to people who are joking around on the forum.

If you're joking, then you need to indicate better that you're stating something that's tongue-in-cheek.

Hey! Us real Americans have worked hard for our arrogant reputation and we don't appreciate someone such as yourself giving everyone respect which they haven't earned. Canadians aren't even real people.

OK you lot - that is five post and nothing at all mentioned about chess.

Off you go to the Spirituality Forum and tell them how sorry you are.

Paul Charles Morphy was a Chess Genius.

( I mentioned chess so I can stay here).

Morphy, then Big Bobby;

So we have to wait about 90 years more in order to enjoy the next American World Chess Champion (and 645.987 years to see a Greek)

The Greeks gave us the Knight we use today.

Nathaniel Cook, who designed the Staunton set in 1849 based
the Knight on the Elgin Marbles (which came friom Greece).

There was one American World Champion inbetween Morphy and Fischer. Do you know who it was? If not, see how long it takes to Google the answer!

No time to google it.
I 'm an insufferable ignorant dolt! Before my heavy bike crash in '96 I would remember allright the magnificent string Steinitz-Lasker-Capa-Alekhine-Euwe-Botvinnik-Smyslov-Tal-Petrosian-Spassky-Fischer-Karpov-Kasparov. And then along came Kramnik & Anand Corp.
Oh you mean Vlad my dear FL??

Gee, nobody had the desire to Google? The answer must be Steinitz!

Edit - Although he wasn't actually a U.S. citizen when he won the 1886 match, he became a citizen in 1888. Close enough, I guess, since he still had his title in 1888.

Hmm, three U.S. world champions in chess, and three nut cases. Just a coincidence, I'm sure. 😞

Yeap, Steinitz was pure dead American indeed
