You might be interested to know its possible to download games played on ICC using ChessDB

Apparently FICS support will be added, but ICC works fine for me, as does downloads via TWIC. Well worth a look.
While you are here, can you explain how much new functionality has been added to it since it was split from SCID? I have SCID, and could download and build ChessDB, but can't really be bothered to unless for example the spell checking has been sorted out to spell check the whole database and not stop after it's found 2000 incorrect names (which is a bug as once it's found 2,000 ambiguous names it stops and if your database is based on the file enormous.zip from the Crafty website like mine is then that is a real danger). Also has the database of players names been updated since it was SCID?
Originally posted by DeepThoughtChessDB very easily downloads games from TWIC, etc. The first version had the problem you're describing when importing games, but the latest version doesn't seem to have any issues at all. I downloaded ~400,000 games from TWIC without any issue at all, and it does so automatically.

There is also a telnet client which can download from ICC.
Changes from Scid are listed at
http://chessdb.sourceforge.net/Scid/
but I don't see the spellcheck bug you mention corrected. Why not ask the developer on the mailing list - you might get it fixed.
The database of players has been updated. It says on the ChessDB site it was updated in December 2006.

I guess I should have stated the HTTP client in ChessDB only connects to TWIC - it is not a general purpose browser. There is support for an HTTP proxy server if you need to use it, but I've not tested that, as I don't need one to access the internet.
...[text shortened]... hat you say, you don't want that functionality. I'm not sure why I must say - it is very useful.
