I love this one.
Sometimes it seems people castle for the sake of it and get caught out not protecting the king's corner.
Castling can only be taken as part of a defensive strategy, not as a defence in itself.

He was toast anyways, black's bishops were wonderfuly good, pointing at the kingside, the queen was also eyeing there, and white was overextended on the queenside. Black definately came out with a monsterously superior opening. Positional chess is white had no chance. Best would likely be to keep the king in the center, but then a few obvious and clever bishop sacrefices would expose the white king quite effectively. I guess the white player, as fate seems, did an artificial type of resign and by the looks of the game, saved himself A LOT of trouble...

Thanks for the analysis. It made interesting reading for a below average player like myself.

Not quite toast but still a pretty bad position.

If you move really fast you might not notice the horrible ERROR in RHP's move generator! Yeah, it's a terrible bug that Russ does not seem interested in fixing; and you can drop a lot of points if and when you execute it (as I did).

The ERROR is when you go to castle. Everyone knows that you have to move the king first! If you move the rook first you'll end up with a botched position cause the king has to move first.

HOWEVER, this is where the error in RHP's move generator can screw you over! If you move the king and then move the rook, and then hit the enter key... YOU ARE SO SCREWED! 😳

Because the RHP move generator will CANCEL the king move and MOVE THE ROOK without moving the king! ARGH!!! You king is caught in the center and you can NEVER castle! :'(
