I often go though the completed games looking at final positions which usually give a hint that something interesting has happened. I saw this game, it’s is curious enough to warrant an outing.

1. d4 Nf6 2. h3 {There is an idea behind this.} 2... g6 3. Nf3 Bg7 4. d5 {Played so Black cannot play Nd5 when g4 and g5 comes, the idea behind 2.h3} 4... O-O 5. g4 d6 6. g5 Nfd7 7. h4 c6 {Correct and best is to take on c6.} 8. dxc6 Nxc6 9. h5 {White carries on with Plan A the Kingside pawn storm.} 9... Nde5 10. Nxe5 {White captures on e4 and carries on the Plan A.} 10... Nxe5 11. hxg6 {And not the tempting 11.h6 Bh8 when White will never break though down the h-file.} 11... fxg6 {The White Rook hits h7, the Black Rook hits f2 something is bound happen.} 12. f4 {How about 12...Qb6 and White cannot go into 13.fxe5 Qf2+ 14.Kd2 dxe5 which is winning for Black.} 12... Nc4 {OOPS! Check All Checks.} 13. c3 {13.Qd5+ wins the c4 Knight, White missed it.} 13... Bf5 {Qd5+ and Qxc4 is still on.} 14. Nd2 {Missing Qd5+ was bad but this move really makes things worse.} 14... Ne3 15. Qb3+ Kh8 16. Qxb7 {16.Kf2 saved the A1 Rook, Black should win this without any trouble.} 16... Nc2+ 17. Kd1 Nxa1 18. e4 Bg4+ 19. Be2 Bxe2+ 20. Kxe2 Rxf4 21. Kd1 a5 {The first sign that Black is straying. Black wants to play Rb8 without giving up the unimportant a7 pawn.} 22. Qd5 Rb8 23. Nc4 Qd7 {This gives up a Rook for a Bishop but there was no need to do this. 23...Rf2 was good.} 24. Bxf4 {Black can now win the Bishop with 24...Qg4+} 24... Bxc3 {Missing Qg4+ Black is chasing the h1 Rook this should have cost Black the game.} 25. bxc3 {Here 25...Qg4+ and Qxg4 is still playable.} 25... Rb1+ {Now 26 Kd2 and White is threatening 27 Be5+ winning the Queen as well as Rxb1. After 26.Kd2 all you can see is a White win.} 26. Bc1 {White is back to losing again. These losing, winning now losing again positions are common in RHP games.} 26... Qg4+ {Black wakes up. White was threatening Rxh7+ and Qf7+ with at the very least a perpetual.} 27. Kd2 Qg2+ 28. Kd3 Qxh1 {The crisis has past. Black wraps up the game with a bit of help from White.} 29. Bd2 Qh3+ {Here 30.Ne3 would prolong the game but probably not the result, although, this is an RHP game. Anything could have happened.} 30. Kd4 Nc2 {Checkmate. An ordinary everyday RHP game with missed chances by both players.}
