Sad but true. It does not bode well for my future success here. 😞

Eeeh... lazy. But never fear, you're not alone. I, for example, typically don't analyze more than a move or two in the future unless I'm attacking or planning a sac or something. (Which explains why I both win by vicious combinations and lose by stupid blunders.)

Good to know I'm not alone. In fact, I would say I am one-up on some of the players here. I have looked at 50 to 100 public games here, and without mentioning any names, I can say that some players will make a move that is completely unforced and yet allows the opponent to immediately snatch a piece absolutely free of charge. I don't mean a sacrifice, I mean a blunder. 😕

In a complicated position with lots of pieces on the board, I'm pressed to analyze all possible outcomes even one move ahead without actually moving the pieces around, which tends to upset the opponent OTB. So, to save time, judgment is used to eliminate piece moves not directly bearing on the area of interest, which of course leads to overlooking something and playing a bone-headed move. Ah chess! Gotta love it.
