Sometimes I would like to put a newspaper diagram onto the monitor screen, then play out different lines. As the RHP screen is set up it would take the better part of the day just to set the position. If there were a 'clear all', if the screen stayed in set-up mode until a RETURN was made, if a couple of other things, that I am not clever enough to explicate, were done then we would have a very useful tool. I'll float the idea in a forum, I'll bet there will be some who are enthusiastic.

I use the 'analyse board' function for just that. I've just finished reading The Art of the Middle Game where Keres gives extensive analysis of many variations which would be pretty tiresome to set up and go over on a board. As you say, though, a bit difficult to set up a position from scratch.

As a separate point... I wish there was a 'copy and paste to the notebook' function after you've explored a variation. Of course, it could be that I'm being a bit lazy!

I wish I could use the Print Board function from the analysis board on any move.

There are things that could be changed about the analize board, but why not just use a real chess board in your situation?

I fall into the (computer idiot) class so I have 6 chess boards set up for problems I encounter. I think it helps. I also use the analyze board a lot. I think its great, but as I said, I am comp. dumb, so the boards are a great help and they are there as a constant.

Most of the time that's what I do anyway. When playing more advanced games I pull out the pieces. But it would still be nice to made some changes to the analysis board.
