i dont think i've ever been in this situation before at an end game - my rook vs opponents bishop; if you look at the history you'll see it took me a while to discover how to actually win in this situation - i was going to draw at one stage, but i knew there was a way of doing it... all credit to my opponent though, he put up a great fight and made it as difficult as he could for me...

p.s. does anyone know if a rook can still checkmate if your opponent has two bishops..?

Game 3333675
One time I was in the same endgame, but after a crazy game we both decided on a draw. This game pleased me a lot even though if I tried hard I could have won that end-game.

Usually King&Bishop can draw against King&Rook. Also in this game black had a chance to to it. Black needed to use standart plan - move king to white squared corner (a8) and put bishop on a7/b8 and it would be clear draw.

In this game black went to wrong corner which gave white a chance to win.

If K&B can usually draw against K&R, does that mean the K&B should be trying to swap pawns if pawns are on the board? I know it depends on the position...but generally speaking?

Yes the inferior side should defiantly swap pawns, this is good advice in most endgames. Although in general Korch is correct about the drawing technique, I believe in this case he is wrong. Black cannot grab the pawn with Kxa6 because Rb4 wins outright. Against a rook and a pawn black will have a hard time to set up the usual fortress.

Talking about draw I did mean position which arises after white did not use their chance (Rb4) after Kxa6 - after that black could draw if their king would move to right corner.

I drew a similar game recently. Game 3301591

I could not get my opponent's king out of the corner. To paraphrase Korch, the player with the bishop should keep the king away from the same-colored corner to draw. Otherwise, it's probably a loss.

64.h7+ ?? was really horrible move, which did cost you win.

Right, it was a terrible move, but I think the game was already unwinnable well before 64. I don't see any other good moves at that point... 64. Kf6 doesn't help, nor do any rook moves. Do you see something I don't?

Anyway, I was supporting your point about B+K vs. R+K.

I agree that I have mistaken - even without 64.h7+ white cant win.
