Since playing chess online i have noticed alot of different opening moves. I wondered if there was anyone out there who would like to share one of their strange opening moves with me.
If they share with me theirs in game i shall show them mine.
Also what do people generally value higher a knight or a bishop.
A bishop can take from a longer range but knights can jump pieces
What does everyone think?
I'm a firm believer in Tartakover's dictum:"If it's dubious,it's playable." I like getting out of main line theory ASAP,as it usually forces my booked up opponents to do their own thinking, for a change. Some of my favorites are:For White 1.Nc3,1.g4,and the Blackmar-Diemer Gambit:1.d4 d5 2.e4 de:3.Nc3 Nf6 4.f3. For Black: the Fajarowicz Gambit:!.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e5 3.dxe5 Ne4! Also, the Albin Counter Gambit:1.d4 d5 2.c4 e5. As for your Bishops and Knights ?,it depends on the position. In an open position, the Bishops dominate as they move faster. In closed positions, the Knight is preferable as it can visit squares of both colors.
