Artur Yusupov once returned to his home in Moscow, surprising some burglars.
He was shot and considers himself fortunate to have survived.

During the 1966 Olympiad in Havana, Mikhail Tal was beaten up by a man

You haven't officially been to S. America until you get robbed at gun/knife point.

In my case it was broken glass point and he didn't get anything but still... stamp on the passport and enjoy the rest of your stay.

28 years ago in fact. Since he was playing Garry Kasparov in a match at the time, he probably considered the mugging on Tower Bridge as a bit of light relief.
