Just got a cool checkmate

Only Chess

I assume you saw the mate which is why you sac'd your queen to get his queen off the diagonal.

Thanks for that game, I will look at that game a few more times. Multiple ideas to get from that game. Hopefully I can work a portion of it into my play.

Just got another one. I like the look of the board at the end. I also like the power of the dark bishop after a destroyed pawn defense. After greenpawn pointed it out to me earlier today!

Hi Guys,

If we are showing blitz games then please forgive me for re-posing (sic);

*** Thread 134311***

"Next time you are going to play a blitz session, open up this thread
and rub your finger against my avatar and some of the greenpawn
luck I had in this game might just rub off onto you."

If you cannot be bothered to go to the linked thread a ...[text shortened]... Queen away from defending the g4 square.} 18. Bb5 Qxb5+ 19. Qxb5 g6+ 20. Kh6 Ng4 {Checkmate.} [/pgn]
Wow Greenpawn, just wow.

Look at it again after a bit and it blows me away even more than before.

HI Eladar,

It's really a selfish way of playing in a blitz session. I sac-sac-sac then just resign.
Once every 10 games I may get a hit and that is the game that is remembered.

@greenpawn34

So you play aggressively hoping for the stars to align.

Had this 15 min game over the weekend after 45 ... Be7. Finished 46. f6 Bf8 47. Rxh5+ and opponent resigned instead of 47... Bh6 48 Rxh6#.

Very nice. When my computer program was teaching me mating patterns I called that a tube mate. I gave mates all sorts of stupid names.

A queen next to a king I called Mickey Mouse Ears because those were the other squares needing to be covered.

Ok this game is a split personality. Up until move 30, I thought I played poorly but from 30 on I thought pretty cool. Rook sac, to set up a sweet little pawn push, then a backside bishop all while about down.

I am white

@Eladar

nice, looks like he has to take the rook since after 32... Rf6 33. Rh8 is crushing.

He had my queen trapped. He could have simply traded.

Ok, this is a well known one, but playing queen' s gambit I get to play it every so often. Just got it 5 minutes ago.

I think people assume you blunder trying to attack the bishop square twice.
