A blunder. 2.f6 is a blunder. I do not see how to take advantage of this move. One thing I see, is that the f pawn will take the e pawn and maybe the f pawn, since I think d5... Nf3 and planty of oter things give back the pawn for nothing, so we may as well take a second pawn.
Originally posted by jeroen1975 If you want to play the counter-gambit, play 2. ... d5. After 3. exd e5 4. d3 Nf6 5. dxe Nxe5 6. Nf3 Bc5 7. Qe2 Bf5 you will have a pretty good game.
That's actually the refutation to black's system. 🙂
2...Bc5 gives interesting play I think. 3.fxe4 allows 3...Qa4 and general nastiness, so white usually plays 3. Nf3 and you can defend with 3...d4 causing problems as white can't castle for a while.
Well, for now, I do not think 5.d4 is a very good move. I would except something like 5.Nc3
I heard of that counter gambit, but I never face it. this is some crazy play.
Definitely take the gambit. Black gets some great games out of well defensed KG. If black knows KG theory well, white better try something else. I would much rather play black in a KGA than white...
