If the players have a rating of less than 800 I'd go for the guy with a rook.
If the players have a rating between 800 and 1400 I bet on a draw.
If the players have a rating between 1400 and 1600 I would bet on a draw and know why.
If the players have a rating of more than 1600 I will tell you the result after 48 moves, but likely...
I'm not supposed to tell you the truth?

Yes, this game is in progress.... Sorry, didn't mean to solicit specific advice (as you probably noticed from my original post)....just wanted to know what likely outcomes were. Indeed, I'll ask my far superior- ranked opponent as well.

I disagree. He could do a google search and come up with the same answer 30 seconds later. And he could consult a chess book that will tell him the answer. I didn't give him any specific advice about his game, or even general ideas of the endgame that could be found online or in a book. I just told him the theoretical result. Of course, I'm not sure about this, I was just guessing. It'll be up to an expert on the rules of this site. But until then, I'll edit my post.

I also disagree as I googled it and checked Golombek's and with correct play the position is considered drawn and comment has been solicited, hypothetically. Whereas in this game Game 362802 white has a very strong attack that black will find difficult to neutralise.

Funny thing though - Golombeks' disagreed. πŸ˜‰

Are you saying that most Queen vs Rook endgames are drawn, or the position he is in? I ask this because I'm pretty sure you're wrong if it's the former.

The game you linked to is a rook and pawns endgame.

What I'm saying is that with correct play Rook v Queen endgames are considered drawn.

It leads me to Jerzy - Skeeter, an in progress game with bare kings. Maybe if you actually checked your link instead of assuming that you couldn't possibly be wrong.

correct me if i am wrong ... i am only an amateur πŸ˜‰

don't rook and pawn endgames have at the very least either a rook or a pawn ... or perhaps even both?

what goes on there skeeter ... can you claim a draw somehow?
