Hi everyone, I've recently decided to take up the King's Gambit as part of my opening repetoir and I was looking through some opening databases when I came across this :

Does anyone play this line? It looks really interesting to play and I've played many similar sacs like this in blitz games (sac the knight to open the f file.)

I used to play the king's gambit as far as I can remember the muzio has been analysed all the way to a draw.

Sometimes I'd risk the allgaier but it's well dodgy!!

The draw thing isn't quite true. There is a line that is a forced draw, but there are other different lines that aren't. There are plenty of books on the KG, so you should check one out. That is one opening where you need to know what the heck you are doing!

Heh, same line I played 30 years ago when the Flint chess team held a match against the Saginaw team. I was on board 2 of a 4 man team. I wish I could say I won, but the game ended in a draw. I gave the line up shortly after that.

While it's fun to play that junk, Masters won't play it for either side anymore. What's that tell you about the whole line?

That I can play it because I'm not a master?=D lol j/k but really, at my level its not something to be concerned about simply because on some grand scale it doesn't work out.
