IM Krush takes down Akopian, and swindles Korchnoi all the same day! She'll be GM soon enough. Does anyone have a link to her game with Korchnoi? Just wondering why it wasn't newsworthy to Chess Life. I suppose because Akopian is a new hopefull and Korchnoi is past his prime, though the man still plays some brilliant chess.

ps. Sorry, but obviously Chess news is slow in getting to me. 😛

her game with Korchnoi was on the uschess.org website. Korchnoi made a bad blunder in a good posistion, but makes it an interesting because after he stormed off Krush and another female master were analayzing the game and when Korchnoi saw that he got really mad, he told Krush she should learn how to play or something like that. I can't find the article though

Maybe she'll meet him at the National Open and swindle him again.
He deserves it for behaving that way. Of course, I think she'll have to make it to board one.

Korchnoi has had problems with women players before. Remember Sofia Polgar vs Korchnoi from several years ago? (Korchnoi lost on time)

Uhm, no he is not

If my memory serves me right he is at least in his mid thirties,

One of the best games in Gibraltar for me was Akopian-Kuzubov (now that is a talented youngster)

Very true, I read in one of the latest numbers of NIC that Korchnoi began to be verbally abusive after his game against Krush.

It is said that Krush her friend Paëhtz suggested a move for Irina after the game, after which Korchnoi replied, "No, No, this move is far too good for her (to find)"

Oops , I didnt saw your post, but that is what I was talking about as well,
also is it said that Korchnoi said to Krush after the game that it is nice to know theory but that she should also learn to play chess...

A very weird comment since Irina stood worse after the opening

Just once, I wish one of those old-school GMs would lose with some dignity. It's obvious that it hurt his "Almost World Champion Once," ego.

If Korchnoi looked like her, then he would be one strange dude.
