After 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 f5 3.Bc4 fxe4 4.Nxe5 d5 5.Qh5+ g6 6.Nxg6 hxg6, do you recommend 7.Qxg6+ or 7.Qxh8?

Qxh8 is the better move.

Unfortunately I'm retarded and therefore have a losing record against it 😛. Any engine will tell you to take the rook and I do agree.

I would prefer 7.Qxg6+.

But I must agree with likeforest 3.Bc4 is not the best option against the Latvian gambit

I normally do 3.exf5 and 3.Nxe5.

In my opinion 3.Nxe5 is the best.

While we are on the subject, has anybody ever tried to refute the latvian gambit by taking on f5 and then playing g4, in the style of fischers line against the kings gambit but with an extra tempo as white?

Yo' Dutch Defense, you putz! Quit asking for advice on a clan challenge game you have in progress.

You really are a low snake in the weeds, after that pissant apology weeping all over the forums.

That gives Black an option White doesn't have in the KG - pushing the e-Pawn with tempo. This should quickly destroy the apparent similarity between the two openings.

Chipotle, I have a book on this opening, I already played Qxh8 in the game and I know the variation. There's no need for me to ask for help when I have a book.

So why ask for advice when you are making the move in a game, and getting help from a 2000+ player?

You have the integrity of Bill Clinton - you can wait until after the game to ask questions about the line you are currently playing.

I also have this book.
How do you find the Latvian fares OTB against club players going for a Ruy or Italian game?

By the way here's a recent LG win:

Look, here is my point. You are playing the line you asked about in a current game. No warning to the forum readers, nothing. There is little to stop people from posting lines and new ideas.

Even though I've only been on this site for a couple of weeks, I've seen multiple posts about discussing current games. You blew right through that. I really don't care if you have the book, that is beside the point.
