Has anyone here taken lessons from a Master? I have an opportunity to take lessons from Dennis Monokroussos. Before I commit I was just wondering what other peoples expeirences have been like.

Like any other profession, there are good chess teachers and bad chess teachers. If you can't obtain any testimonials from other folks who have taken lessons from the teacher, then take a lesson or two from him/her and judge for yourself the best you can. Rather vague advice, but I hope that it helps a little.

When I finally broke 1850 in USCF tournament play and thought I was on my way to becoming one of the big boys, I played a 1/2 dozen games with a just-barely 2200+ master.
He kicked me around the board like I was a small child that had just learned the moves.
