I considered Rxc3+, but had to move quickly as I was out of passes (this position was in a simul against IM John Donaldson). I played Qd6 instead. Was Rxc3+ better?

but he does not have to take, just move the king to b1 but then you
have R-c2 with more threats. You need to shake dudes up a bit, who
knows maybe he would have resigned on the spot.

Testrider I think has the best line, IF white takes. It is indeed about equal after Black moves the queen back to f5. But, white can reply with the calm Kb1! and he looks much better still, since your pieces and pawns are kind of messy and uncoordinated.
