Peter Svidler and Michael Adams went 1-1 in playoffs and have to play an Armageddon Tiebreaker. I have seen this before at my local chess club. It is exciting to watch. Also for Fabiano Caruana and Boris Gelfand drew both their matches.

So it's Gelfand v Adams & Kramnik v Nakamura in the semis.

Nice to see GMs blundering their way through games. Makes me feel better about my own mistakes. 😀

The big ??? Is why Carlsen and Aronian were not in the LCC. They missed out on $50,000 if they were the winner and $3,125 just for being in it.

Michael Adams blow game two by not trading off rooks at move 51 to force a draw and win the round.

Lol, my dyslexic ability reverse Boris and Adams.

The finals was Nakamura and Boris. They were in group C together. And drew both matches. Nakamura won the first finals.

I think Aronian was in that Mind Games Event. I could be wong though.

No, the London Chess Classic site was quoting the wrong result for a couple of hours - it wasn't your mistake.

Good games, and thanks to the OP and all others for reminding me it was happening, I enjoyed watching the games on the internet. My main defence to 1.e4 is the Najdorf (assuming my opponent allows it) with the French as a second defence, so the second game between Gelfand and Adams was of particular interest to me as the anti-English move is something I'm looking at:

With hindsight Nakamura was probably the favorite to win this.

I used to watch him on ICC a few years ago and he was always at the top of the blitz/bullet tables as Smallville. And that was no mean feat when you consider that most of the top players at the time did their blitzing on that site.

To the disappointment of all the Naka-haters, he has won the LCC. 🙂

Too bad he won't get an invite to the candidates tourney in 2014. Love him or hate him, at least he plays to win.

Why won't he be invited to play there? He should get an automatic place as he is #4 in the world, the three highest rated players other than the champion are automatic entrants.
