I have the descriptive edition of My System, but I would like to pick up the 21st Century edition which has been updated into algebraic notation. My wife has said she will kill me if I buy another chess book.
If you have this book and have decided it isn't for you, I would like to try to buy or trade for it.
thanks,
tony

If you are new to chess I would avoid My System like the plague...time would be much better spent on practicing tactics...of course Nimzo won't hurt your game. It's just a matter of effective use of your time.
personnaly i think 'My system' is a good book for all, even lower rated people
the first few chapres are not that hard and are all logical gradually getting harder
a low rated player can get many ideas from it and improve
a later re-reading after a year or 2 and more of the book will be understandable and help in the advancement of a player

Originally posted by villa68You missed my point. I'm sure it will help somewhat but for a beginning player a much better use of time is on tactics ( and a little about opening principals). Each hour spent on tactics would be more useful than an hour spent on overprotection etc.
