I'd have to admit my opponent was a friend from work, and not a particularly experienced chess player. But it was still fun to call him after this 🙂

That is the "nickel mate". Before the game, you secretly put a nickle under your opponents king. You then play 1.e4...e5 2.Qh4. You then point out that there is something under his king. He picks it up, and in doing so, has to move his king. His only move is 2...Ke7, after which you mate him
