Messaging

Could someone please explain the messaging system on here? I was looking at different pages and found a message that had been sent to me some time ago. The guy must have thought I was very ignorant.
I just didn`t know I had any messages.

Sorry, can't explain it.

It isn't the only thing on this site that seems a little screwy.

Right next to where is says you have 6 games waiting it will say you have 1 unread message.
