this is the typical milner barry gambit,
I've never felt comfortable playing the french and so have as late been trying to find something which more suits my style of play.
I'm curious as to what other's think of this gambit
below is a game i played which is a variation of milner barry gambit which i just did myself(prehaps it's unsound, prehaps it's been played before, i'm not sure)

but my opponent is an excellent otb player who i know, so i was very happy with the result. my move 17 was played with the whole idea of b captures and all that followed, was thinking a while before i played that one.
I'm curious on thoughts on game also
About the game,I didn't understand your Bc2.....
The rest seemed quite all right to me.But I only had a quick look.
About the gambit,it seems to me that the e-pawn becomes awfully weak, and black should be able to exploit that weakness.Don't ask me how,I don't play the French and as white always play the KIA against it.Also,I don't see much compensation for the gambitted pawn, though I'm sure that's just my lack of understanding.
Well, that are my thoughts.Hope they are of some help to you
