Modern Defence!

Anybody play this and want to show me some theory on it? Not the Pirc
( I'm sick of getting viciously beaten by the Austrian Attack! ( Dave,
he eats the Pirc alive!)) the modern. I can play the Gurgenidze pretty
well but not any other variation!

Plus Tony..if you have a printer...Chesslab is an excellent resource for
games on any opening or player.

Averbakh variation, nobody really has any faith in it but it's really the
only reasonable choice against d4....plus the book I have doesn't
explain why the moves are played or any themes so it's kinda hard to
get a feel for it!

I enjoy reading and playing through the games in "Modern Defence"
by Neil Mcdonald and John Speelman. It is the best book I've seen on
this opening.

I have it! It's not bad but I think it would be better if it had a themes
and ideas section!
