Coletti gives a perfectly logical reaason for that rule. I wonder though, is there any logic to the rule that says you are not allowed to castle to get out of check? Or at least some sort of historical reason for it?

As an aside, I can readily imagine how the (American) football rule about having to kick the ball at least 10 yards from the tee before the kicking team can grab it and claim possession came to be: Some coach had a fit because his team got victimized by the other team's kicker delicately nudging the ball off the tee with his shoe, and then jumping on the ball and claiming the kicking team had "recovered" the ball.
