I used to play a lot of OTB speed and b litz and finding myself trying to do the same thing in RHP... I could have a 30 day per move allowance but I try to make the move like a house on fire ... is there a forum for recovering speed freaks? Does this happen to anyone else? I feel like a compulsive gambler in the sense they play only to play and don't care about winning ... I was doing one day per move games but either start choking or claiming games on time outs, which is all vbery great and good but makes a lot of enemies....

I know what you mean... I used to not claim wins on time-outs if my opponent's vacation flag was set. Then I noticed that whenever I had a win some players would immediately set their vacation flag! But they continued to move in other games!

So, I decided ENOUGH OF THIS and posted in my profile that I would claim a win if their time had expired. And I started doing just that...
When you look at how much time a player really has to make a move it is isn't right for you to continue to allow them to drag the game on, especially when you see them moving in other games! 😠

I recommend claiming the win and moving on... afterall, this is WAR my friend. 😲 And BTW, I've been a member here for about 1-1/2 years and I've never lost a game on time or even received a warning that I was close to losing on time.

I can also identify with your problem of blitzing every game. I play 60 games at a time and usually spend about 20 secs per game to make a move. This practice has caused me to drop my rating about 200 points, so I'm with you, I need to stop blitzing moves here.

Do the 3/7 and relax buddy.
Try approaching the game as a partner in an art where the game itself is more important than who wins. That is the right medium between caring too much and not at all.

Thanks for the feedback -- I think I need to limit the # of games I have going at once ... and regarding chess as an art form makes sense ... two people trying to make a puzzle for the other not to solve ... appeals to my Buddhist nature ... but not to my bloodthirsty one...sometimes I'm screaming inside for a new game (usually late at night and very sleepy)... put out a public challenge and then get hacked to pieces by a provisional player ... oh, well, it's good to have days to make a move, otherwise I'd never work...
