I have a question: what could happen if white, instead of 7 ke1 would have played something different, for example 7 kg1: wouldnt that cause the entire black attack to lose all steam?

After 7 Kg1 it's a draw by perpetual check, 7....Qh4 8. g3 Nxg3 9. Nxh8 Nd4 10. hxg3 Qxg3ch. Unless black wants to try the very risky 9....Nf5

9...d5 is also worth a try.

Well, 9 ...Nf5? is risky as after 10.d4! I'm not too sure what Black can do?? I would try 9 ...Ne4?! but, 9 ...Nd4 is probably the strongest move. I think I have a game similar to this where White plays his King to g1. If I find it, I will post it.

I found the game, my opponent did not play his King to g1 as I remember but, here is the game:

Just FYI... 6. Kxf2? is NOT a good move at all! Also, while we are on the subject of good/bad moves... why do lower rated players always play the weaker 5. Nxf7 when 5.Bxf7 gives Black much much more trouble?? Is it because of the fork of the Q & R??

6. Kxf2 is OK, so long as you answer 6....Nxe4ch with 7. Ke3. Anything else is a draw or loss for White.

If they played stronger moves they wouldn't be lower rated players.

Bxf7 is better but it doesn't give black "much much more trouble"
