My last OTB tournament (7-8.07) was local tournament (so i could increase only my local rating not ELO) but with some strong players (3 GMs, 2 FIDE Masters, 1 national master and few strong candidates of master). i did play average - 4.wins 1 draw and 2 loss and took 6th place (among 27 players). These 2 games are my best in that tournament.
In first of them i did play with young talented player who took 4th place (4 wins 2 draws 1 loss) and who managed to draw against 2 GMs (Sveshnikov and Lanka). That was his only loss in that tournament.
In opening my opponent did choose rather primitive and wrong plan - pressure to d-file (13...Rb8?! instead of 13...Be7; 15...Nc7?! instead of 15...Nce7) and did not fell dangers (16...b6?! and 17...Bb7?, he had to return his knight on d5) and after 18.d4! he got in hopeless positions - he had nothing better as to give his pawn and in the end he expedited his agony with 27...Qe6??.

In second game I did play with son of GM Evgeny Sveshnikov - FIDE master Vladimir Sveshnikov.
My opponent underestimated my threats to pawn c5 and when he did notice that he did not find the only moves (he should have play 18....Nxe3 19.Qxe3 Ne7! instead of 18...Qf8?. As he told after game he did not notice 19.Nfd2! - typical manoeuvre in kings indian structure) and in bad position he made another mistake (20...Bd8? - better was 20...Nb8) after which his position was destroyed.

Originally posted by vipiuI'd go with option 2 there, personally. It's better to get involved with something you know, otherwise you'd probably get crucified once you're 9 moves into an opening... IMO. What openings do you know well?
do you think it is better to have a wide opening repertoire or to know less openings but in deeper level ?
Originally posted by vipiuIts individual choice. I would like to have wide opening repertoire - its the reason why I` want to make my opening repertoire wider. And thats the reason why in RHP I`m usually trying openings which I don`t know so well.
