This year on ICC there was a tournament held for teams of colleges, and my college was invited to play. It's a five round tourney, games are played with the time control 90 + 30/move. I had two forfeit wins in rounds 2 and 4, but would be very happy if people wanted to analyze my games on here.

My round 1 opponent was probably around 1600, and Round 3 and 5 were both around 2200 USCF. I think Nelson Lopez won the whole shabang. The most frustrating part was not being able to win Round 5. My endgame technique sucks. Enjoy, I think some all around interesting games.

I give it a shot every once in a while. You can tell that my knowledge is very limited, since I decided I, in fact, didn't want the pawn he offered with ..a6??. I just figured Ba4 had to be the right move. I knew a little about the systems that he was going to be playing, so I was kind of just playing moves that would result into me being back into my knowledge, instead of trying to think about what was wrong with his move order. Just dumb on my part. I also missed Rxd6+! in that game after ...Qg7?? But hell, what did I play Bb1 for if not to play Bf5+ ?

Well, in game two the blunders seem to occur with moves 24 and 28. On move 24 I'm not really sure what I'd play, Turn 1.2 says f6 is the move though. However, your choice seems to give you chances to fight still. On 28 Bxf3 is the move. I think the plan here is if Qxf3 then you reply Rd8 and gain control of that open file, giving you a pretty nice position. and If gxf3 white's pawns are kind of messed up, but white's still got the edge.

Haven't seen game three yet, but the site is funny. 😀

Yeah Rxd6 absolutely sucked. If I would have known that Qd3 basically won on the spot, I wouldn't have played it. It was much stronger than I thought.

24. Rxd4 seems to be the losing move I think....

...which was promptly followed by another blunder, 26. f6

had Bxf3 of been played that Queen would not have been so nasty.

I looked at Bxf3 but he obviously would take with the g-pawn, and his messed up pawns don't really matter at all. I couldn't find any convincing reason to trade off a strong bishop for a knight like that, but at that point it really didn't matter. Rxd6 was clearly the biggie here I think.
