I just reviewed Yelena Dembo's recent "Play the Grunfeld" on Jeremy Silman's wonderful book review site. Here you go if you want to read it. Sorry for the shameless plug! 🙂

Hey! I just bought this book in Amazon, and I'm waiting to arrive.

I'm happy you liked, and can't wait for it to arrive.

Well written review Tony. I'm still not going to buy the book, but that isn't the point 😉

Good Review. 🙂

Does anyone know if this Grunfeld book talks about playing it against the English? I have been playing the Grunfeld for like 3 years and have never found a book that talks about how to play the grunfeld against the English. I like to keep my opening study to a minimum that is why I don't want to learn another system against just it.

Thanks.

No it doesn't. It deals with the purely Grunfeld move order 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 g6, although it does consider variations with g3 and Bg2 ideas. That said, d4 is always in, while if you try to play the Grunfeld vs. the English, white normally refrains from this move, and plays d2-d3 instead.

I do not mean to get off subject, but does anyone know of a work or CD that talks about playing the Grunfeld against the English?

Thanks.

Yes, only one though. Watson's book on the English 1...Nf6 systems has Anglo-Grunfeld material in it.
