He still plays the 2. Qh5 which is not expected from a US champ/2600 player. He lost the game though not cause of the opening.

Holy smokes, that's a high rating! What's the highest rating ever recorded?

That's probably a Playchess blitz rating and therefore completely meaningless in the real world.

Not completely meaningless. It just isn't comparable in any way to an OTB ELO rating. But then again, what online rating is?

if you've ever seen him blitz, he's just incredible. beating 10 GMs in a row, eating pizza or watching tv at the same time.

I used to watch him back in the day when I had a playchess account. He was definitely one of the most exciting GM's to watch at Blitz.

It's a Playchess game, z00t, nobody plays their main openings in PC blitz at that level.

What a rubbish opening for White.
2. Qh5?? makes threats easily countered, and not moving there is one of the first few chess rules for good play.

Yes you would expect a GM to practice what is preached as far as chess theory is concerned. Its very hard telling newbies not to make such moves when a recognised GM does so publicly.

He isn't afraid to play it, and that's what makes him good.

Right, because GMs shouldn't be allowed to play what they want.

This is played now and again by a 2100 rated player in Ulster.

ok, it's not like he uses 2. Qh5 in his main repertoire, he just decided to mess around with it a few times otb. And when you're number 1 on ICC, you can do whatever you want (that the posted game was on PC is beyond the point.)
