This has nothing to do with transposing into the English but I was thinking.... Against the reti opening I wonder how 1.Nf3 b6 2.g3 Bb7 3.Bg2 e5 would do? maybe if white plays 4.0-0 then e4? Of course 4.d3 first is better. I think the main problem after e5 is that it will be hard to play d5
