There is also the tragic story of Morphy's death.
They game him a blindfold and announced 1.e4.
He sat down and began to think.
Before he knew it, the voice said "e3, e2, e1, FIRE !!!".
It was the first recorded firing squad surprise in history.
Many a chessplayer has broken into a cold sweat while awaiting a move in a blindfold game.
The moral is : Only play blindfold chess with someone you trust. 🙂
Last week I put on a brilliant game of Morphy at Rooks Odds where
he plays 0-0 mate. Don't know if it was blindfold.

I played a blind man once at chess.
His told his guide dog what moves to make on the board.
Every time he captured a piece or a pawn his dog ate it.
I found it very dis-orientating watching this dog staring at my
position and licking his chops.
When I resigned his dog quickly snaffled all of the remaining pieces,
ate them and then ripped tho boards to shreds.
The owner said his dog hated post-mortems . Quite incredible.
