I am looking for a book of chess openings. I don't want to study them hugely 'cause i just stick with the scotch game whenever i can but since joining rhp I've learnt a fair bit from an old book Modern Chess Openings, pub 1946 which i picked up for three quid a couple of years ago.
People are always opening g3, f4 etc on here and I looked them up before each game and It's certainly helped. Now I'm looking for a fairly light, cheap book, in modern notation (preferably the picture notation beacause i use welsh in my written notation so no books are published in my style of notation). Just to give me a broad idea of the reasoning behind and important squares in a wide variety of openings.
Any ideas? And any links to amazon or wherever so I can order it without getting off my fat arse?
Cheers
Dewi

this is Winning Chess Openings...a general, high level intro by Seirawan...good for general ideas, themes (not for long variations or study of a particular opening)
